High-Precision Honed & Skived Roller Burnished Tubes

A honed tube or skived & roller burnished tube is a seamless steel tube designed specifically for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder barrels. These precision tubes are processed to ensure extremely tight internal diameter (ID) tolerances, such as H7, H8, or H9, and superior ID surface roughness like Ra ≤ 0.20μm or Ra ≤ 0.35μm.

Honing vs. Skiving & Roller Burnishing: Which to Choose?

Honed Tubes: The honing process creates a distinct cross-hatch pattern on the internal surface. This pattern is excellent for oil retention, extending the lifespan of cylinder seals. Ideal for heavy-duty industrial cylinders.
Skived & Roller Burnished Tubes (SRB): This process removes metal (skiving) and then compresses the surface (roller burnishing). It produces a much harder, smoother, and more wear-resistant internal surface compared to honing, making it perfect for high-speed or high-pressure applications.
